Throughout the past year, the Comparative Literature Club discussed many topics, from international & indigenous poetry and lens readings to magical realism and vampires. We took on a variety of new perspectives, but also took a look at what we could do to help our own community. In the fall of 2021, our club hosted its first-ever “Blind Date With a Book” sale. We collected over 450 book donations from students, professors, and faculty across campus, then wrapped and wrote unique descriptions for each. We sold every single book during our 3-day-long “Blind Date With a Book” sale, raising $610 through sales and donations. We then donated the $610 to Mid-State Literacy Council, and plan on having another book sale next fall to continue to benefit the Mid-State Literacy Council.
